Family Class Sponsorship

Spousal Sponsorship:

Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their foreign spouse or partner and bring them to Canada to become permanent residents. The Spousal or Common-Law Partner Sponsorship program consists of a 2-step application process. The first step involves approval of the intended Canadian sponsor and is usually assessed based on his/her ability to take care of their loved ones once they arrive in Canada. Once you get approval from the Canadian government, the immigration department then processes the applicantfor permanent residency provided they meet all the conditions required for approval. The whole application process involves filling, submitting, and approving required immigration documents.

Parents / Grandparents Sponsorship:

The Parents and Grandparents Program opens once a year. It lets citizens and permanent residents of Canada sponsor their parents and grandparents to come to Canada. If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident wanting to sponsor your foreign parents or grandparents and meet minimum income requirement, you can do so by showing your interest to immigration department andfilling out the applicationform once the program opens. Sponsor first shows interest and if picked from the pool can then send application to sponsor their parent or grand parent.

Dependent Child Sponsorship:

You can sponsor your dependent child who is residing outside. The child can either be biological or adopted. If the sponsor meets the requirements and is eligible to sponsor the child, they can do so by filling out the application form and sending the completed file to Immigration, Refugees and Citizensjip Canada. To be eligible for sponsorship, children must meet the definition of a dependent child. Whether they are the biological or adopted child of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, a child is considered to be a dependent if they are not married or in a common-law relationship and are under the age of 22.
